Level 1

Can your child…

• Speak in full sentences?
• Draw straight, curved, and diagonal lines?
• Draw closed shapes?
• Trace a dotted line with some accuracy?
• Hear the difference between two sounds?

If so, your child is ready for Level 1!

Level 2

Can your child…

• Trace all of the letters?
• Say the sounds for most letters when shown the letter?
• Write the letter for most sounds when prompted?
• Read the following words: 
• Cat
• Hip
• fox
• Recognize rhyming words?

If so, your child is ready for Level 2! If not, complete Level 1.

Level 3

Can your child…

• Read the following words?
• Stand
• Desk
• Milk

• Read the following sentences?
• Give me the pen from the desk.
• You have a red tent.
•  Ted said, "We can jump on the bed!"

If so, your child is ready for Level 3! If not, complete Level 2.

Level 4

Coming Fall 2024

Can your child…

• Correctly count the syllables in the following words? Celebrate, party, food, cake, birthday, candles

• Read the following sentences?
• A skunk is in the trash!
• That is a small sandbox.
• He is shorter than her.

If so, your child is ready for Level 4! If not, complete Level 3.

Level 5

Coming Spring 2025

Can your child…

• Identify the "short" and "long" sounds of the letters a, e, i, o, and u?
• Correctly read the following words?
• Whale
• Phone
• Cute

• Correctly read the following sentences?
• He jumped from the plane hatch.
• Mike is happy and smiling at all the gold.
• They peddled to the tiny store by the bridge.

If so, your child is ready for Level 5! If not, complete Level 4.

Level 6

Coming Spring 2025

Can your child…

• Correctly read the following words?
• Leave
• Between
• Remain

• Correctly read the following sentences?
• I might play today when my friend visits.
• Follow the green road to see the rainbow.
• Please read in the tree or by the window.

If so, your child is ready for Level 6! If not, complete Level 5.
