Pathway To Reading
Pathway To Reading is a phonics based reading curriculum that is rooted in the latest research in the science of reading.
How It Began
I spent my professional career working in middle schools and high schools. I found that many of my students were struggling in basic decoding skills. They couldn't differentiate between the words "embezzlement" and "embellishment". This was the root cause of their lack of reading comprehension.
This sent me on a path to learn about what reading actually is, how to best teach reading, and what methods and strategies are most effective. As I began homeschooling my own children, I discovered the reading programs popular with homeschoolers and experienced first hand what a homeschooling parent needs the most.
When I left the classroom, I began tutoring in reading and writing. As I tutored students, I developed my own methods based on all of the resources I had. I began to put these methods into packets for parents... I would meet with the student on Monday or Tuesday, and the parent would teach the concepts the rest of the week.
Eventually, I decided to compile these resources into an easy-to-use program that would fill a much needed gap in the homeschool world.
