Open and Go

Lessons are loosely scripted, with detailed guidance in the first few sessions. Subsequent lessons feature a two-page spread—just open and teach. Student Pages include simple games and activities every five lessons, allowing flexibility to choose favorites or save longer tasks for later. Minimal materials are needed: letter tiles and a whiteboard are helpful but optional. A guide, paper, and pencil are sufficient for budget-friendly teaching.

FAQs

Each lesson, if completed in its whole, will take between 10-30 minutes. You may spread the lesson out across several days or repeat parts of the lesson as needed.

Each level has 25 lessons. The lessons are designed to take between 1-3 days each. Every 5 lessons, you pause and complete practice activities for up to 10 days or until your child masters the content. Take as long as you need on each lesson and focus on mastering the concepts.

While the Student Pages provide reading material, lesson sheets, games, and activities, it is possible to use just the instructor's guide if desired.

As a parent, you may create your own activities and write your own sentences using the word lists from the lessons. The Student Pages makes it simple and easy to use

The main program is 6 levels.

An additional program will be released with levels 7-9, intended for grades 2-5 to practice additional comprehension and decoding skills.

In the early years, read books out loud to your child and talk about them together. Listening comprehension is a great foundation for later reading comprehension.,

In 2nd or 3rd grade, begin a grammar/writing program, even if your child is still working on reading.
