This introductory reading curriculum engages children in establishing early literacy skills through sound exploration, word play, and creating connections. This is for brand new readers who do not know letters or letter sounds.

Many "reading" curricula expect a child to enter the program knowing all 26 letter sounds and even beginning blending. This program fills this gap in a gentle and playful manner. Children between the ages of 4-6 will play games and participate in hands on activities to learn all about how letters work.

This program can be completed in only 6 weeks, but includes enough material to be taught over an entire school year, making it ideal to fit each individual child's needs. The scope and sequence begins by introducing the concepts of letters and sounds and progresses to blending three letter words.

The lessons are open-and-go, loosely scripted, with only a few extra materials needed. Pair this curriculum with fine motor activities, poetry, and read-aloud books for a robust early literacy experience.
